Meet Mrs Laverack.....

...our Class 1 teacher, and English & Literacy lead for the school.

Q How long have you been a teacher?

A For many years, in a variety of schools in East and North Yorkshire.

Q Which Key stage do you enjoy teaching the most?

A During the course of my career I have taught in EYFS, KS1 and lower KS2 and have enjoyed teaching in all of them but I am particularly enjoying EYFS and KS1 at the moment as every day is different and fun.

Q What are your jobs at Langton school?

A Besides teaching in class 1, I am responsible for making sure English is taught effectively and is celebrated throughout school. I am a teacher governor and I always like to run an after school club. Whenever Mrs Ray is not in school, it is my responsibility to make sure everything runs smoothly in school.

Q Have you had any other job besides teaching?

A  For ten years my husband and I ran a self- catering business and small hotel in Scotland.

Q What do you think makes a good teacher?

  • Enjoying working with and challenging children to achieve the best that they possibly can.

  • Being very well organised, so that lessons flow and everyone is always on task.

  • Making each day fun, whilst ensuring learning and progress.

  • Having a sense of humour.

Q What do you like to do when you are not at school?

A I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my husband, family and friends. I also enjoy walking, gardening and visiting new and interesting places.
