KS2 Girl's Football

The green and white strips had their first outing of the new school year last week, as our Class 3 girls and boys football teams were in action….Hannah & Constance report;

“On Wednesday 21st September, Hannah, Constance, Lily (Yr 6) Lily (Yr 5), Olivia H, Megan, Verity, Isabell and  Martha went to a football tournament at Malton Sports Centre. We were brought onto the AstroTurf and given a sheet of all the matches that we were going to play, and when we would get a rest.

“Our first game was against Rillington, where we drew 0-0 but we all thought we were probably a bit better, and could have won if we’d had better tactics.

“The second game we played was against Norton A—we played well, but sadly lost 1-0 (next time we will beat them). Then we played Norton B, who were wearing bright yellow kit. We won this 3-0 thanks to Martha and Constance who scored for our team, and then Norton let in an own goal which really boosted our confidence for the next game.

“The fourth game was against Malton, who we drew 1-1 against. This was very close but thanks to Martha we managed to keep up.

“We then had a break, where Hannah, Constance and Megan went watching our next opponents to try and figure out who to put on for the next game.

“We drew our fifth game with Amotherby 1-1 with Lily (Yr 5) scoring a great goal. They were a good team who played really well, so it was quite an even match between us. The last match was against St Mary’s. They were amazing and managed to beat us by just 1 goal, but for the rest of the game, the team held off against them, not letting them score again.

“At the and of everyone’s games, the sports coach brought everybody in and told us who had won. St Mary’s came 3rd, Norton A came 2nd and Amotherby won the whole tournament. In the end, we found out that we had come fourth overall, which was pretty good, but we want to improve for next time—we are going to win!”
