Langton Primary School Sport Funding

The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum until 2020 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school Headteachers.

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.

At Langton Primary School, we understand the importance of high quality PE and sport provision. We believe this can deliver huge benefits in terms of enhanced cognitive function, improved classroom behaviour and consequently enhances academic performance. For the academic year 2016-2017, the school received PE and sport premium funding of £8,325. This funding has been entirely spent on:

  • The provision of a sports coach four days a week to deliver additional PE as part of the curriculum and after school sports clubs.
  • CPD to enable a permanent member of staff to train to lead our sports provision going forward and therefore maintain the high standard of sports provision already in place.
