FoLS Update - October 2017

Firstly a big thank you for sending your Christmas Card orders back to School and also to the Grandparents who attended the Book Fair and read with their Grandchildren!

The first event of this School year is to be a Family Quiz night with Pie and Pea Supper. This is to be held on Friday 10th November at Malton Cricket Club; the bar will be open from 6pm and the quiz will commence at 6.30pm. The pie and pea supper will be served half way through the quiz. Posters will be going round school in the next few days; this is a ‘community event’ and therefore you are welcome to invite friends and family along, please note that last year tickets sold out so book early to avoid disappointment. A booking form will be going home with the children by the end of next week.

Tickets are priced at: £8 Adult, £4 Child, Family (of 4) ticket £20

As the event is being held in November we would appreciate it if you could ensure that the children do not go outside during the quiz night. The weather will be cold and the lighting is not great; we cannot guarantee the safety of the children outside the Cricket Club.

Langton School Christmas Fair

Friday 1st December 2017 from 5pm

We are really hoping to make this year’s fair the best yet but we can’t do it without the help of all the families and friends at Langton School.

We need your help!!!

There are a number of ways in which you can help, please see below for details:

* Raffle Prizes – please speak to your employers, family and friends, local pub etc.  for prizes or donate something that could be used in a hamper or vouchers; we would appreciate and gladly accept most things!

* Donations for the Tombola –We are doing 3 tombola type stalls and they are extremely popular with both the children and adults – the last few years they have sold out in the first half hour!

* Bottles (wrapped or unwrapped) bottles (squash, wine, shampoo, ketchup etc.  - anything in a bottle)

* Chocolate/Sweet (wrapped or unwrapped) boxes/bags/festive/tubes of sweets or chocolate

* General Tombola – small gifts, books, household items, toys, teddies etc.

* Lucky dip – The lucky dip is a wrapped present that can be for a ‘boy’, ‘girl’ or ‘either’, we would be grateful if you could bring in any small items e.g.  notebooks, bubbles, pens, rubbers, cars, bobbles, balls etc. These do not need to be wrapped as we will mix up the items to make a prize to a suitable value.

* Produce Stall – cakes, biscuits, mince pies would be fantastic on the day however if you are preparing your chutneys, mincemeat, preserves etc. then please spare a few jars for the fair.

* Helpers – volunteers to spare some time manning a stall/game during the fair is essential to ensure a successful fair and it enables us to provide a variety of games, stalls and refreshments to keep the children (and adults!) entertained.

* Practice – get your table tennis bats out as there will be a children’s and adults table tennis tournament!!

Donations can be brought into school straight after half term and we will pick up and store the items on a weekly basis to avoid the School being cluttered!

Many thanks!
