Outdoor Learning (science, D and T & community work)

Outdoor Learning with Westow Wildflower Meadow

A thoroughly lovely Autumn day saw us all outside learning about nature and the natural environment. Developing and honing our D and T skills and working with the local community and applying our science knowledge.

A big thank you to Rev. Cate and her husband Ian, Chris, Janie and Emma from Westow Wild Flower meadow and Mr. Cairns and our very own Forest school and Outdoor Learning expert, Mrs. Cogger. They and the children have drilled, hammered, cut, stuck, spread, supplied and have been thoroughly brilliant with the children.

The whole school ventured out to help make bird boxes, minibeast hotels, bat roosts and feeders. If you are anywhere near Westow please pop along to the playing fields and wild flower meadow to see them in situ. The children also did us proud, what else would we expect. Here is a direct quote from one of our visitors.

“Just to say a big thank you for today. We enjoyed assisting the children and I hope they enjoyed it too. Langton School children were great, enthusiastic, polite, happy, kind to each other and very knowledgeable about wildlife.”
